Updates to Academy Day from September 2025

As we look ahead to the new 2025-26 academic year, please be aware of several important changes to the Academy day.
Academy Day Timings
- The new school day will start at 8:30am as before, though we will open at 8:10am for students who wish to have breakfast.
- Morning break is 11.00 - 11.20 for all students, bringing following periods and lunch breaks forward.
- The school day will finish at 2:50pm, extending to 3:40pm on days when your child participates in their allocated period 6 activity.
- We will be installing bells over the summer to signal the beginning and end of each session, which will help improve the flow of our school day.
The updated Academy day timings can be found here.
Curriculum
- Our modern foreign language provision will now focus on Spanish in year 7 and 8, providing students with a consistent and focused language learning experience.
- Progress evenings will be shorter next year, lasting for 2 hours from 3pm to 5pm. We have developed a more sophisticated and comprehensive reporting system that will give you a much more thorough overview of how your child is performing in each of their subjects.
- We have dedicated more curriculum time across the year groups for the study of maths, English and science, as we know that these subjects are critical in giving students the best possible start to adult life.
Period 6
-
All students in Years 7-11 will have one Period 6 allocated per week. Students will have the opportunity to choose their activities on a first-come, first-served basis, with fresh selections available each term. For our Year 11 students, these sessions will provide coordinated academic interventions, with allocated Period 6 activities carefully tailored to reflect areas of greatest need based on current performance data, ensuring we boost their chances of success where it is most needed. We will update you in September once Period 6 activities are available to book.
Other updates
- The Restaurant will serve hot food only, and the Main Hall will serve sandwiches, snacks etc.
We believe these changes will create a more balanced and effective learning environment for all our students, however, should you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to contact us via email enquiries@tscacademy.org.uk and we will be happy to discuss how these modifications may affect your child's daily routine.
Thank you for your continued support.
