Community-spirited students at the Samworth Church Academy have organised a food bank donation drive. Students and their families, staff and volunteers gave generously and we are proud to have donated bags and bags of food and toiletries to local volunteer-run Sherwood Forest Food Bank.

Sixth Former Oliver explains:

A few weeks ago four year 12 students decided to spread awareness of food banks and the incredible work they do, as part of their Young Leader Course. They shared information about food banks with their fellow students across all year groups with presentations and posters. This helped spread the word and inspire lots of people to donate what they could. The food and toiletries donations were kindly taken away by volunteers Keith and Ray of the Sherwood Forest Food Bank.

Oliver and the Sixth Form Young Leaders team would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who got involved!

The Sherwood Forest Food Bank shared their core message:

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
