Have you ever wondered how our minds work? The science behind the brain, how it works and why everybody is so different.
Also, how is it we are able to remember lots of different things, or can’t get that cheesy song or viral video out of our head? Or maybe you are interested in how we are influenced by others, either online or in real life, and how we can understand mental health, in our everyday lives.
If this sounds like the sort of thing you would be interested in learning, plus much more, then Psychology could be the subject for you!
Psychology is assessed with two exams at the end of Year 11, with each one contributing 50% to your overall GCSE grade.
Exam 1 Cognition and Behaviour
- Memory
- Perception
- Development
- Research methods
Exam 2 Social Context and Behaviour
- Social influence
- Language, thought and communicatio
- Brain and neuropsychology
- Psychological problems
Psychology at GCSE is a great first step for anyone considering taking this subject at A level (as well as similar subjects such as Forensics, Criminology and Sociology), as the topics covered cross over to these A Levels and prepare you for the types of assessments and assignments you will see in these subjects.
Psychology is a very adaptable GCSE for any CV or application to Further Education, as it is based on human behaviour in everyday life no matter what the environment, so being able to understand this better could help you with people skills, working as a group, and understanding the diversity and different types of people you will come across in any career choice.
