We have a wonderful opportunity for all of our year 7 students to attend our annual Residential Trip. This year the residential will be held at the Kingswood Centre, Dearne Valley in South Yorkshire.

The theme of the residential is Adventure Choice and students will be accommodated in the ensuite Adventure Lodges.  Time spent on a residential offers a fantastic opportunity for students to interact away from the distractions of everyday school life, taking them out of their comfort zones and encouraging both independence and teamwork. By the end of the residential, the students will leave with a new sense of self-sufficiency and confidence.

The proposed cost of this trip is £170.00 per student, of which the Samworth Church Academy Endowment Trust Fund has agreed to contribute £120.00 per student.

Included in the price are six daytime adventurous activity sessions per full day, climbing, bushcraft, canoeing, archery, high ropes, zip wire and caving are some of the proposed activities together with an evening activity/entertainment session, one of which is a laser quest session.  Also included is instruction from highly trained and enthusiastic staff, accommodation, including all bedding, refreshment breaks throughout the day, three meals provided; breakfast, lunch and dinner per full day.

In order to secure a place on the residential a contribution of £50.00 is required, which, along with the attached consent form, should be returned to the Student Information Desk, for the attention of Mrs Owen by Friday, 24th March 2017

If you feel you are unable to meet the proposed contribution of the trip but would still like your child to be considered for a place, please contact Mrs. Owen for advice. It is likely that a parental contribution would still be required or a commitment by your child to raise funds through an enterprising endeavour to contribute towards the cost.

A presentation about the residential will be held on Thursday, 9th March at 3:00pm in the Main Hall.  Please indicate on the attached form if you plan to attend the presentation.

We aim to make this an adventure to remember, provide students with a taste of independence, a rush of adrenaline, a breath of fresh air, a sense of achievement and making memories that last a lifetime.

It is our intention that every Year 7 student takes advantage of this amazing opportunity.
