Chris Vallance

Director of Deep Experience

My name is Chris Vallance and I am the Director of Student Experience at the academy. I am lucky enough to also be the line manager of the sixth form team and solely teach sixth form. My two main areas of interest are Sociology and Psychology. I will never stop being fascinated by exploring reasons for behaviour, whether it be that of an individual or a group. I firmly believe that teaching young people is a privilege and one I do not take lightly. This allows me to ensure I am truly enthusiastic and involved in the development of students at the academy. My main personal interest is running, I find it a fantastic way to destress and find solutions to problems I could not discover previously. My vision for Samworth Church Academy Sixth Form is to truly find the balance between the academic and extra-curricular. We want our students to leave with the best possible grades whilst setting themselves out as confident and independent young people.

Laura Jones

Head of Sixth Form

My name is Laura Jones and I am the new Head of Sixth form here at the Academy. I have a background of ten years in teaching, several years as Head of Department and have recently been the PSHE and Wellbeing lead for the academy. I have a real passion to succeed and to facilitate others with the skills and attributes required for them to do so. I am a strong believer in student voice and I love working alongside young people to prepare them academically, socially and personally for their journey beyond school.

Brett Goacher

Deputy Head of Sixth Form

Having taught at Samworth Church Academy for 7 years, I have held numerous roles within the academy as well as completing educational courses. I have been a Gifted and Talented Lead, a Pupil Premium Co-Ordinator and the Deputy Head of Sixth Form. Having completed the Redhill Access to Senior Leadership programme, I am also currently doing the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership. Some of my key strengths would be the commitment and dedication shown to our students, prioritising them and ensuring the best. Alongside my desire to improve and learn more in the educational sector. I am immensely passionate about education and enjoy nothing more than help our young students progress to the next steps of their educational journey. I envisage a Sixth Form that works closely with the local community, caters for all type of learners and provides equal opportunity to all.

Alison Pass

Sixth Form Learning Manager

My name is Alison and I am the learning manager for the Sixth Form. Having worked for the NHS as a patient pathway coordinator for 26 years I made the move into education at The Samworth Church Academy in 2014. My role as sixth form learning manager builds on the experience gained working with people throughout my career. The role is very rewarding, allowing me to help and support students. I particularly enjoy supporting students to find the right career path in order to go on and succeed after their A Levels.
