Art Students Sketch In The Barcelona Sunshine
2 May 2017
During the Easter holidays, 23 Art and History students were taken to Barcelona with Miss Richmond, Mrs Fletcher and Mr Robinson.
Students saw some amazing architecture and works of world-renowned artists including Gaudí. The rich history of the city, as well as the talents of many well-known artists, is visible throughout the city’s many museums, landmarks and educational visits and the exposure to such inspiration will undoubtedly enhance students’ classroom studies in the future.
Students stayed in a hotel in a central location, using public transport and walking to the places visited, fully immersing themselves in the surrounding culture. Some key locations visited were Castell Montjuic, La Sagrada Familia, Arc De Triomf, La Boqueira Market and Museu Nacional d'Art Catalunya. At each place, students had opportunities to sketch in the sunshine; working on individual scrapbooks they can keep to look back on their experiences.
The trip was a fantastic experience enjoyed by all and will hopefully be repeated with Art students in the future!
