For the past 18 months a group of our students have been working on something very special together.
With the help of one of our English teachers - John Rogers, some of our students have put together an ezine, a piece to display how they felt through what could be the most difficult time of their lives.
The thought behind the ezine form was that a digital magazine best reflects how we’ve come to create the work. As we were restricted by year group bubbles, we were forced to meet online, but this resulted in some innovative response to form and content. We have grown as a writing community! - John Rogers
The majority of the work behind the ezine happened whilst the doors of The Samworth Church Academy were closed due to the Covid-19 lockdown and was largely completed communicating via Microsoft Teams.
We know that many Covid experiences have been harrowing, but I was pleased with how the students found different ways to approach an emotive issue. - John Rogers
Without spoiling too much, quite incredibly, the poetry and small works of fiction here are not a long slog, there are elements of humour throughout, something that we all needed during a time that felt like it might never end.
