Performing Arts teacher, Mrs Ashley, had a lovely visit recently from former Academy student, Scarlett Sykes, who is currently studying at Gordonstoun in.  Scarlett was the former Youth Mayor for Mansfield and is continuing to affect positive change by applying to the Academy's Opportunity Trust to raise funds to build water tanks in villages in Thailand.

Year 12 student, Scarlett, is currently studying English Literature, Geography and History; she is a History Captain and is a member of the school council.  Scarlett is a keen rugby player and is currently playing in Inverness along with representing Gordonstoun in netball and hockey.  It was fantastic to hear about the wonderful experiences offered to her through the scholarship.

It was fantastic to hear about her success and how much her time up at Gordonstoun has helped to shape her.  Scarlett wanted to thank her teachers and the staff at The Samworth Church Academy for all of their support.
