A group of Chartered accountants from E&Y, PwC and ICAEW came into school to deliver a careers workshop to a group of year 10 students with the aim of increasing their awareness of, and access to, professional careers. The workshop was designed to introduce students to the concept of innovation and how it has changed the world and the way we work. Students thought about the ways in which they might be able to solve some problems relevant to their lives with technological innovations. This lesson was about getting students excited and connecting their own personal interests to computer science, Business and other professional careers. Students were asked to share something they know a lot about and teach it to a small group. Groups made a "rapid" prototype of an innovative idea and shared it in mini presentations. They then reflected on the employability skills they had developed and their potential next steps.
