Miss K Price, Lead Teacher of Animal Management
Welcome to The Samworth Church Academy Animal Management Department.
At The Samworth Church Academy we have a vocational unit which allows a variety of practical, employment based subjects including Health and Social Care, Animal Care, Hair Dressing and Public Services.
Students at The Samworth Church Academy study vocational subjects because we are preparing students for 70 great years and need to provide stepping stones to employment. For some students this is by taking courses that lead to employment as well as further and higher education. The courses are predominantly skills or assignment based to provide courses that suit students who are gifted practically and allows their efforts to directly impact their overall results. This will give the students the confidence that they are equipped to match the requirements of employers. However, there are examinable elements as the new courses start in 2015/16 to ensure they carry the same weight as none Vocational subjects.
We also offer intervention for those who do not access the classroom and run sessions with these students working with the animals. After school students can come down and learn business skills or how to care for animals alongside building the outdoor animal unit from recycled material which provides them with new skills and a sense of accomplishment.
