The new BTEC in Business is designed to help you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work or in running your own business.
The BTEC is intended as a ‘hands on’ programme, designed to inspire and enthuse learners to consider a career in one of the many business disciplines, such as marketing, finance, product design, management and retail.
This course would also be useful for those considering a career where they will be self-employed or in the creative industries such as music, design or entertainment.
The majority of assessment is by coursework completed in class in addition to one external exam. This course is equivalent to one GCSE at grade A*-C but there is potential for more able students to complete more units and achieve 2 GCSE grades at A*-C.
The course is made up of 8 units:
3 Essential Units: Enterprise in the Business World, Finance for Business, Principles of Marketing
5 Optional units: To be chosen from a huge selection of specialist units such as; Recruitment, Business law, Online Business or Promoting a Brand. The choice of units will depend upon the career aspirations of the students in the class.
