During week commencing 27th June The Samworth Church Academy joined thousands who took part in the Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week which is Britain's largest celebration of school sport.
Our aim was to provide pupils with a chance to learn more about the Olympics and Paralympics, the values behind the games and to take part in something they wouldn't normally get a chance to do through curriculum PE or extra-curricular activities.
Students were able to experience a range of new sporting activities through Physical Education lessons and extra-curricular activities such as golf, taekwondo, handball, boccia, archery, hammer throwing, table tennis, judo, ultimate frisbee and triathlon.
The event was drawn to a close on Friday 1st July with a breathtaking performance from M.A.D. stunt team who are the UKs number one Mountain Bike Stunt and Display Team.
Pupils have fed back on the week saying the activities were 'awesome' and 'where can I go to do this activity again, it was amazing.'
Finally we would like to thank all pupils, parents, coaches and staff for supporting the week and we look forward to even bigger and better events in the lead up to 2012.
