ICT Assessment

Years 8 and 9

Students take the OCR National Qualification in ICT.  The course comprises two internally assessed pieces of coursework.

Unit 1 is taken in Year 8 and is entitled ICT Skills for Business.  Students use standard Microsoft packages such as Word, Publisher, Powerpoint, Access and Excel together with the Internet and their school email account to create business documents.

Unit 2 is taken in Year 9 and involves an animation project which requires students to review existing animations, design their own animation, create this animation using Flash and Fireworks and test this animation.

Years 12 and 13

In Year 12 students submit two pieces of coursework that are assessed internally and take an external exam.  These units have a business theme. 

In Year 13 students submit three pieces of coursework, all of which are assessed internally.  These units are far more technical than those taken in Year 12 and involve software development.
